Inland Turtles: turtles that stay in streams, ponds, lakes,or rivers. Just below is a Western Pond Turtle, an example of an inland turtle. The grey substance on it's back is a radio transmitter that has been attached by strong epoxy glue. This is so that conservationists can track this turtle, which is being considered for the endangered species list here in Oregon and in Washington.

Sea Turtles: turtles that live in seas or oceans. Just below is a Leatherback, an example of a sea turtle.

Western Pond Turtles are omnivorous. That means they eat meat as well as plants. They will eat crayfish, insects, and sometimes they eat fish, tadpoles and frogs! They also eat algae, lily pods and cattail roots.
